Motivation Is When Your Dreams Put On Work Clothes

Motivation plays a crucial role in conducting a research. Motivation is defined as one's behavior towards others. It has also been considered as the factors that restore energy in people interested to make an effort to attain a goal. This results from the interaction of both conscious and unconscious factors such as need and power of desire. Working for longer period of time with encountering number of difficulties is related to higher motivation. As we know, student always looks to their teacher for positive feedback. So, teachers should always encourage open communication and free thinking with their students to make them feel important.

Motivation is the prime ingredient to success. People will not grow and learn without motivation. The Motivation has several basic features applicable to learning are:

  1. The environment should focus on student's attention on the information to be learned.
  2. Must provide incentives to motivate students to learn.
  3. Internal motivation is long lasting than external motivation.
  4. Learning is most effective if the student himself ready to learn.

Types of Motivation

Motivation provides one with the energy to accomplish the goals.
There are two types of Motivation: Intrinsic Motivation and Extrinsic Motivation

  1. Intrinsic Motivation: Intrinsic motivation is long lasting, self-supportive and focuses on subject rather on reward or punishment. But the drawback is that it is slow in changing the behavior, requires special attention and lengthy preparation, and also various approaches may be required to motivate students.

  2. Extrinsic Motivation: This type of motivation requires little attention and easily changeable behavior and also there is no necessity of much knowledge of the student. But on the other hand it provides distraction from learning, difficulty in determining relevant reward for the student; it is not effective for longer period of time and also if the reward policy is removed motivation is lost.

So, it can be concluded that Motivation avoids conflicts and non-cooperation and bring understanding and unity between each other. Effective communication, proper appreciation of work done and positive encouragement are useful and necessary to motivate student.
